By Marjorie Ryerson'65
University of Michigan Press
Ann Arbor, Mich., 2003
Marjorie
Ryerson, a photographer, journalist, and professor of communication
at Castleton State College (Randolph, Vt.), has created a book that
celebrates the power and mystery of water through images, words,
and music.
Accompanied
by the poetic and lyrical contributions of 66 renowned musicians
(Paul Winter, Eugenia Zukerman, and Dave Brubeck are among them)
Ryerson’s color photographs chronicle the connections between water
and spirituality and celebrate the beauty and vulnerability of water.
Called
“a photography book with a social conscience,” Water Music
affirms the intimate connection of water to the rhythms of life.
Net proceeds
from the sale of Water Music will benefit the Water
Music Fund of the United Nations Foundation, to be used in support
of water preservation and to provide unpolluted drinking water to
families around the world.
