Cover Story: The Class of 2005: Characteristically Uncharacteristic We may be biased, but the caliber of graduates this year left us mightily impressed. Here's an introduction to a class with a whole lot of class. Features: Path of a Modern Warrior Charles Eastman, a Dakota Sioux Indian, began his studies at Beloit only months after the battle of the Little Bighorn. One of 11 Native American students sent to the College between 1871-1884, Eastman became a distinguished physician, author, and advocate of progressive causes. A Community Pays it Forward It demanded its share of blood, sweat, and tears, but the College chapter's first Habitat for Humanity home is beginning to take shape in the city of Beloit. |
On the cover: Draped in brightly colored clothing from his native Ghana, Nii Ashai Tetteh marches with his classmates during Beloit's 155th Commencement ceremony.
