Taking Care of the Cupola

Posted by on 10/28/11 • Categorized as Fall/Winter 2011

The most prominent feature atop Beloit’s oldest building is undergoing restoration. Using a web of scaffolding perched more than four stories in the air, workers from Klobucar Construction began removing and replacing rotted wood from the Middle College cupola in September. The project also includes scraping layers of paint, replacing and cleaning window glass, repairing broken architectural ornaments, and, finally, applying a fresh coat of white paint. The work is expected to be finished later this fall.
